Diabetes does not become irreversible simply because of sexual intercourse, and there is no direct, inevitable link between sexual activity and disease recovery.
Sexual intercourse itself does not directly make diabetes harder to recover from. However, the body is under stress during the process, which may cause blood glucose fluctuations. If blood sugar is poorly controlled, sexual activity may lead to high or low blood glucose afterward, weakening the body’s ability to recover. In addition, if diabetic complications have already developed—such as sexual dysfunction due to neuropathy or vascular disease—sexual intercourse may increase physical burden and indirectly affect recovery.
Nevertheless, when blood glucose is well‑controlled and physical condition permits, moderate sexual activity has no negative effect on diabetic recovery. Instead, it helps relieve stress, improve mood, and benefits mental health.
