What to Do If a Lump Develops at Insulin Injection Sites?

If you find a lump in the injection area, take action immediately:

Stop using this area at once, mark it clearly, and avoid itThis is a critical step! Continuing to inject in the same spot will only worsen the problem and further impair insulin absorption.Use a pen to draw a circle around the edge of the lump to clearly mark the area. Make sure all future injection points stay away from this marked zone.
Promote lump resolution

Warm compress:Apply a warm towel (temperature should be tolerable to the skin without causing burns) to the lump for 15–20 minutes, 2–3 times a day. Avoid areas with skin damage or infection.Warmth helps improve local blood circulation.
Gentle massage:After a warm compress or applying moisturizer, use your fingertip (not nail) to massage very gently around the lump in circular motions. Avoid fresh injection sites. This helps soften the tissue.

Seek medical attention promptly if needed
If the lump is large, persists for a long time, or is accompanied by redness, swelling, heat, or pain, be sure to consult a healthcare professional.
They can assess your condition, provide specific management advice, and help you redesign your injection plan.
