Early Symptoms and Screening Methods of Diabetic Skin Lesions (A Complication of Diabetes)

Skin lesions are one of the common complications in patients with diabetes. Approximately 30%–91% of diabetic patients have one or more types of skin damage. Skin lesions can worsen diabetes and seriously affect patients’ quality of life, so early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are essential.
Early Symptoms of Diabetic Skin Lesions

Thickened and swollen skin on the back, face, neck, and shoulders
Small flat papules
Reddish-yellow papules on the extensor surfaces of the limbs and buttocks
Yellowish skin and yellow nails
Skin itching (local or generalized)
Eczema
Pretibial pigmented patches
Facial flushing
Diabetic erythema, etc.

Screening Methods
Diabetic patients should be familiar with the various skin manifestations associated with abnormal diabetes metabolism. Seek medical attention promptly if any abnormalities are found.
